32st Annual Lippitt Country Show
by Heather Pinet, LCS Treasurer

Lush, rolling hills in the heart of Vermont used as
a background for gorgeous horses is pretty tough to beat. Add to that
the good company of friends, camaraderie to spare and the love of the
Lippitt Morgan, and we’ll call it the 32nd Annual Lippitt Country
Show.
Friday evening offered clinics to any and all in attendance; Proper
Harness Fitting (by Lori Cash), and Fitting & Showmanship (by Karen
Swanberg), followed by the traditional Pot Luck.
To start the event on Saturday morn, Don Tobey serenaded Joy Smith and
Nancy Plimpton (aboard W Mont First Lady and Weathermont Sarah) into
the ring for the Presentation of Colors.
Although entries were light, good competition and quality horse flesh
were far from lacking. Judge James C. Brown started the day viewing
the ½ Lippitt, Cherry Ledge Daddy’s Girl, a classy yearling filly.
Abigail Renaud and Kaitlyn French took blues in Fitting & Showmanship
to begin the Youth competitions. |
| Full Lippitt Weanling Fillies featured Randallane
Porche (at right) taking 1st for Crescent Peirce and SWR Shadow of
Knight in 2nd for Lester Welch. Weanling Colts brought to the ring
Randallane Fusion in 1st and Brook Hill Syndication drawing the red
ribbon for new owner, Elizabeth Platt. The Broodmare & Foal entries
were filled nicely by Randallane Morgans with Porche & Rosemary’s Baby
winning the blue. Yearling Fillies marked the return of Brook Hill
Ember Ash (below) in 1st place, followed closely by two new show
girls, Amberfields Mystic Stone and Jazz’s Stardust. Yearling Colts
turned out to be another repeat for Leigh Semilof and Starshine
Epsilon Aurigae. |

The graceful Michabou K.T. Marilynn (at left) won the
2 year old Filly Class for Michabou Morgans with Colleen Culver’s
striking boy Ricochet holding his own in the Colt class.
The Jr. Champion Classes showed real promise for the future of Lippitt
breeding programs, with an interesting variety of bloodlines. The
fillies placed with Brook Hill Ember Ash in 3rd, the young Randallane
Porche in 2nd and Michabou K.T. Marilynn a solid 1st. The Colt class
brought Jazz’s Brandy Rock Raggae in 3rd, Randallane Fusion 2nd and
Ricochet in 1st. |
Reim Jade Moro and Edgewood Ida Hall Tribute took
blues in their age groups. Mares 15 and older (at right) turned out to
be the biggest in hand class of the day with 7 gorgeous matrons in the
ring. Weathermont Georgia pinned 1st for Weathermont Farm with Special
Occasion taking 2nd for Brook Hill Classic Morgans.
Next came the Senior Lippitt Mare Championship, won by Edgewood Ida
Hall Tribute. Grand Champion Mare honors were bestowed upon Michabou
K.T. Marilynn with Ida Hall in Reserve. |

On to the Geldings………
Michabou Traditional Lad took the blue in the 4 and Under Class with 2
Randallane boys & Starshine Regulus rounding out the class. Geldings 5
and Older brought out the steadfast Imperial Quest and Mic Mac
Cherokee. Grand Champion honors were bestowed upon Michabou
Traditional Lad with Imperial Quest taking Reserve and Mic Mac
Cherokee in 3rd.
A special presentation was held to present the Lippitt of the Year
Trophy to Mint Jacob’s stand in & lovely dam, Mint Barb. Owner Deb
Tomasini and Mint Barb traveled from No. Yarmouth, ME to accept the
Award alongside former owner and friend, Linda Gardner.

Dam & Produce were well represented by Weathermont Farm with First
Lady (at left), Sarah and Georgia. It’s important to note that these
mares show just how amazing these Lippitts are, winning numerous
ribbons in fine fashion at the ages of 28, 23 and 21!
Something new to the program this year was the Lippitt Sales Class,
offered during the Lunch Break on Saturday and Sunday. This allowed
owners/breeders to showcase horses for sale with a brief write up read
to the spectators while the horses strut their stuff in the ring.

The Trail Horsemanship Classes were won by Mint Barb and owner Deb
Tomasini while Junior top honors went to Abigail Renaud on Weathermont
Georgia.
Next up were the Lippitt Morgan Futurity Classes for Weanlings and
Yearlings. This was an exciting new feature in the class line up,
intended to showcase the efforts of the ever important Lippitt
Breeders. Tied to this exciting new offering was the beautiful 2006
LCS Artwork kindly donated by artist Jeanne Mellin, featuring a
beautiful Lippitt Mare & Foal.
Randallane Fusion & Randallane Porche took 1st & 2nd for the
youngsters, with Starshine Epsilon Aurigae and Brook Hill Ember Ash
1st & 2nd in the big kids class. Take home prizes for the winners
included embroidered coolers, leather halters and advertisements in
the Morgan Horse Magazine and Morgan Connection magazine. |
| The always popular Costume class featured an
abundance of creativity, with Three Blind Mice (in the form of the
Weathermont Farm entry) taking top honors. Leadline horses carried 4
of our future Lippitt owners/breeders to blue ribbons, cups, crayons,
stickers and plenty of smiles to go around. |

The Road Hack and Saddle Seat Classes brought back
regulars Imperial Quest, Mic Mac Cherokee and Dew Meadow Tippecanoe
Too for a nice showing. Newcomer Svenja Paulini (riding Michabou
Traditional Lad), Abigail Bemis (with W Mont First Lady), Alexandra
Jeffway (on Ellen Marie Strom), Abigail Renaud (with Weathermont
Georgia) and Lindsy Cooper (on Toba Mint) all did well to win 1st
place in their respective classes. |
| The Driving classes marked the return of Marlene
Bishop to the ring, this time holding the reins of Michabou
Traditional Lad. (This pair also went on to win Carriage Driving
Pleasure and Ethan Allen 3rd honors on Sunday.) Lori Cash showed
Michabou K. T. Marilynn in fine fashion (winning the Pleasure Driving
Championship on Sunday), while the team of Randallane Beaubrook (at
right) and Leigh Semilof rounded out the weekend with wins in the
Trotting Race, Gambler’s Choice, and taking home the High Point
Carriage Award. |

The Jack Benny Class was a full house,
won by Joy Smith and her grand mare W Mont First Lady. This amazing
pair also took 1st in the Pole Bending Class on Sunday. Western
Pleasure marked the return of Mint Black Jack in fine fashion with
Randallane Paradigm in 2nd.
Ellen Marie Strom aced the Trotting Race under Saddle with owner Laura
Cranston. (Author’s Note: I should apologize to, and thank my mount
Fallen Willow Qetesh for enduring the rain and my jittery laughter in
our 1st ever attempt at such a crazy thing! She was thoroughly
confused; “What do you mean I have to trot??”) Randallane Beaubrook
won the Harness Race in good time.
As always, the Egg Toss was entertaining from beginning to end. (I
swear, Judy Mosman WANTED that egg to break all over me!)
To promote more Spectator/Exhibitor interaction, the Show Committee
also introduced a new Stall Decoration Contest. Throughout the day,
spectators were asked to visit the barns and put in their votes for
the best stall decorations. This new idea proved successful with many
votes cast, many new friends made, and the winner announced as Brook
Hill Classic Morgans.

right), Weathermont Ethan and Randallane Fusion to follow. Black Jack
went home once again with Grand Champion and Green Mountain Standard
Class honors; tough to beat! Weathermont Ethan did his best, taking
Reserve in those same classes.
The
dressage classes showed the talents and hard work of many, with
Weathermont Ethan/Christine Phillips, Ellen Marie Strom/Alexandra
Jeffway (at left), and Blue Spruce D’Lance/Alyssa Warawka all ending
with top scores.

and fun to watch. This year’s course proved to be a bit more
challenging and good experience for the 7 entries. In the end, it was
Jazz’s Stardust that won out, much to the pleasure of new owner Sue
Traverse.

Mint Black Jack, Blue Spruce D’Lance, Michabou

Sunday afternoon to claim Championships under Saddle.

Blue Spruce D’Lance.

Award Winner.
