2011 Lippitt of the Year Award Winner
We are pleased to have Amadeus Mozart Ara-Li*named Lippitt of the year in 2012 for being a positive representative of the Lippitt Morgan in 2011. This is the 4th time he has been honoured with the title. Mozart affectionately known as Moe is a 17 year old stallion by Jake Mint out of Amadeus Nekomia Ash.
2011 was a banner year for Mozart as he was awarded the top achievement for Canadian Morgan Horse Association awards program for competition. Amadeus Mozart Ara-Li* is the fifth Morgan to receive the Supreme Justin Morgan Honours for Versatility since the system was established in 1973. This achievement allows the placement of an asterisk (*) after his name as recognition. A special presentation was held the evening of the Sunrise Horse Show in June. He was also 2011 Canadian Horse Journal, Readers’ Choice Awards winner “Equine Shining Star” for the Canadian born and raised horses or ponies of any breed or discipline that deserve recognition for achievement in sport, recreation, work, breeding, or therapeutic Endeavour’s. He took part in a variety of events and activities, demonstrating what is so prized in the Lippitt Morgan versatility, willingness to please, disposition, type, and overall beauty. He only attended one competition in 2011 the Sunrise Summer Classic. He pulled a muscle sometime over the weekend of the show and was unable to compete in two classes from the Carriage division but still received Reserve High Point Carriage Horse. He was then off any work to recuperate till September. At the New Brunswick Morgan Show which Moe could not attend, many expressed their disappointment stating “they like to watch him compete”. Mozart attended two clinics, the AEquine Review@ and Ride for the Cure. The Canadian Morgan Horse Association requested an article about Moe for “The Canadian Morgan” publication on the occasion of his Supreme. This article also appeared in The Lippitt Club and New Brunswick Morgan Club newsletters. There were other articles published in 2011. Also published in 2011 he is the Driving Morgan on the new CMHA promotional card and on the cover of Helen Gaynor-Mills book Welcome Home. Moe always makes us proud wherever we take him into the public eye; many times we have been told by people that he is a great ambassador for the Morgan Horse.
Listed are Moe’s 2011 activities:
April 16 – Ready Set Ride Clinic, Hampton New Brunswick
New Brunswick Equestrian Association Zone 4 Clinic – Moe served as my model as I gave a bandaging demonstration, showing how to apply different types of bandages. He was also a model for a braiding demonstration.
April 30 – May 1 – Equine Review, Sussex New Brunswick
This is an annual all Equine exhibition and trade show. Mozart was there as part of The Lippitt Club exhibit. He took part in 4 breed demonstrations over the two days two with the group for New Brunswick Morgan Horse Club and two for The Lippitt Club. During the Saturday Evening Gala we performed a driven dressage freestyle too “Don’t sit Under the Apple Tree” and competed in a relay including teams of a Morgan driving obstacles and agility dog obstacles. Our team was Second. On Sunday I gave a beginner driving clinic/demonstration using Mozart to demonstrate. He was one of the most seen horses in the ring during the event and we had many comments about his great versatility and beauty. Attendance over the two days was approximately 3,000 people.

October 2: – Ride for the Cure (trail ride) – Hampton Riding Centre – Hampton, New Brunswick.
The goal is to raise money for Breast Cancer research and to have fun on a trail ride. (all riders decked out in pink) Many of the riders we knew, some were new faces. Many of the new people came to ask if he was a Morgan and I explained that he was and from the family Lippitt. Some knew him as soon as I said his name as he has been well publicized as a driving horse to see him under saddle is different. Loads of fun was had by all. My riding partner and I were 2 of only 4 to complete the 3 hour ride many only did1 or 2 hours.
October 15 – Eventing Clinic – Mike Gallagher - Hampton Riding Centre – Hampton, New Brunswick.
The clinician Mike Gallagher is president of our national sport organization Equine Canada. Moe was wonderful he went over every jump without hesitation, even the skinny. Mike came to me after and said “What can I say, he is a star”. It was bags of fun! (As a result of this clinic) In November at the NBEA, AGM I gave a short presentation about Moe and his success in our Breed Sport reaching the Supreme Justin Morgan. Mike Gallagher was also there to give a talk. He started with the fact he had just returned from Mexico and the Pan-Am Games. He proceeded to say he had been talking with someone in Mexico about the clinic and this Morgan who appeared and jumped everything in stadium and on the cross country. The persons responds to him was,” it must have been Moe.” What a great thing to hear!
Mozart has added such joy to our lives and we believe helped spread the word that the Lippitt Morgan is exceptional. He always seems to attract attention either for that look at me attitude when performing or his relaxed appearance while resting between activities. He really enjoys the attention from anyone who will give it to him. We believe in 2011 through clinics, public promotional events, shows, recreational activities, Mozart was a favorable representative of the beauty, brains and versatility this rare horse the Lippitt Morgan possess. He is one of the most well know Morgans in Atlantic Canada and people know he is a Lippitt.
Moe is proudly owned by Dawn & Walter Brown of Collina New Brunswick Canada.
