Trailblazers

Lippitt Trailblazers and Reinsman Award Program

Welcome to the newly revised Trailblazers and Reinsman Program for members of the Lippitt Club.  This program takes the Saddle and Harness Log of the past and adds a few new incentives for our members.

We believe it is important to recognize those members who are using their Lippitts and Half-Lippitts under saddle or in harness.  Time spent training, exercising, trail riding, ranch work, and driving is all counted in this program. Preparation for shows, arena work, riding/driving lessons, clinics and many other past-times spent with your horses all count - just not the time spent in or at any form of competition itself.

How does it work?  You send an application and $15.00 to the current Club Vice President to enroll in the program.  Make your check out to the Lippitt Club.  This is a once in a member's lifetime enrollment fee. It covers some of the Club's expenses for the program.  When you enroll, you will receive a specially designed ball cap to wear while you are out enjoying your horses.

Use this form to keep track of the hours you spend with your Lippitts. When you have reached the stated hours of driving or riding, send the form to the Club Vice President.

We will send you a certificate for that level of accomplishment, and a congratulatory note will be placed in the Newsletter and on the Website. The first 100 hours you log, you will also receive an embroidered patch for your jacket or vest, declaring your participation. Different patches will be awarded for 200 and 300 hours of time you log.  Keep on riding and driving -- your award for participation will be a windbreaker jacket embroidered with your name and declaring your achievement of 500 hours. Additional awards will be made for 1000, 1500 and 2000 hours.

There is no time limit for achieving hours, and no limit on the hours or horses used on any day.  The awards are based upon the rider - not the horse(s) you work with. Therefore, more than one horse may be used, but it must be Lippitt or Half-Lippitt (defined as having one full Lippitt parent).

There is only one catch: you must remain a member of the Lippitt Club while you are recording hours spent with your horses.  If your membership lapses, the hours you spend with your horse while you are not a member will not count. You may resume the program upon rejoining the Club at a later date.

All hours will accumulate on the form provided. You may make copies of the form.  Submit the completed form when you reach each level of the program. Mail it to the current Vice President.  A new form must be submitted as you reach each level of the program.

Happy riding and driving! Go out and enjoy your Lippitt today, and log those hours!

TRAILBLAZER AND REINSMAN PROGRAM PURPOSE

The purpose of this program is to provide recognition for Lippitt Club members who use their Lippitts outside the show ring and other competitive situations.   Forms, available from the current Lippitt Club Vice President, are used to record the hours the members ride or drive their Lippitts. When the required amount of hours are reached, the forms are returned to the Vice President who issues a certificate and patches or other awards for the particular level of hours attained. Half Lippitts may be used, as they are considered to be an avenue wherein the member and others are introduced to the value of the full Lippitt.

TRAILBLAZER AND REINSMAN PROGRAM POLICY

The current Lippitt Club Vice President shall maintain the Trailblazer and Reinsman program. Duties shall include:

  1. Sending out applications and forms to any member requesting them.  Upon receipt of a completed application form, the Vice President shall confirm that the applicant is a member in good standing (membership fees paid and no outstanding bills or debts owed to the Lippitt Club), and that the $15.00 fee has been paid.  Forms for recording the member's hours working with their horses and a ball cap shall be sent to the member no later than two weeks after the application form has been received and verified.
  2. Upon receipt of a member's Hours Log the Vice President shall verify that the horse(s) used by the member are Lippitt or Half Lippitt, and that the member remains in good standing with the Club. Verification of the horse(s) shall consist of checking the current volume of the Lippitt Report  to be certain the horse(s) are Lippitt, or requesting a copy of registration papers from the member in the case of the Half-Lippitt, and verifying the Lippitt portion of the parentage of the horse.
  3. A copy of the Hours Log shall be kept in a binder for reference.  This copy shall also contain the date the form was received, the date the certificate, forms and award were sent to the member, and any other notes concerning the member's status or horse(s) status that the Vice President deems necessary.
  4. Once verified, a Certificate of Completion, a new Hours Log for recording the next level of hours and the original form sent by the member shall be sent to the member, along with the appropriate patch or award for the level (number of hours) reached. A notice shall immediately be sent to the Club Newsletter Editor and to the Club Website for immediate inclusion in the News and Website Awards sections.  This process shall take no more than two weeks from the date the Hours Log was received.
  5. Hours Logs for awards of 500 or more hours will go through the same verification process as lower hour forms. Certificates, new forms and the original form (after taking a copy) will be returned to the member and the Newsletter and Website notified in the same manner and time frame as before. However, Jackets for 500 hours will take time to be ordered and embroidered with the member's name and Club Trailblazer/Reinsman Logo. The member should be informed of the time frame in which to expect the award jacket.  Other awards, such as director chairs, etc., will also take time to order and deliver to the member.
  6. It is suggested that the Vice President request a photo of the member wearing the jacket and ball cap and displaying the patches and other awards received when the jacket or other awards are sent to the member.  These photos will be used for advertising and promotional purposes by the Club, and the member should sign a release stating that he/she approves such a use.
